friday night - recording drum tracks for new demo / EP = brilliance
three songs down already. then beer & nachos.
one room was so hot we had to take socks off. an amp had to go down the hall and into the small room for that "bathroom ambiance" right now there is a discussion of the movie "showgirls" and whether or not watching it will get you laid. "total recall does not hold up" "yeah, it's still a cool fuckin' film" "okay, we'll agree to disagree" "i didn't even know what to think."
roy kicked mandy out of the recording process for one song because her "funky grooves" were fuckin him up
yeah, funky like frankstein's monster's head
gonna call Mandy "bootsie" from now on.
now they're on about frankenstein's monster.
now we're on about steve buscemi. okay... back to recording....
roy says: starship troopers is good.
mandy says: we're recording the starship troopers of demos.
that doesn't make sense in any way.
now mike is singing trooper
roy is singing trooper's "boys in bright white sports car" at top volume. "why are we not playing that RIGHT NOW?"
oh man
trooper vs. honeymoon suite. trooper would win, then on way home tour bus would crash
what? i don't know either
this is a whiskey tango foxtrot situation.
wow. roy can really sing cheeselord really really well. sort of frightening.
mandy says: intimidating roy was fun. i messed with his groove. heh heh heh.
now mike is making water drop noises and mandy's laughing like a school girl
mandy is wearing less clothes tomorrow because the recording studio is hotter than satan's balls. and that's pretty hot. recording bikini? hell yes.
is that the name of the demo?
RECORDING BIKINI. HELL YES. |

| | infuriated | ] | Dear Montreal members... Don't let this happen to you.
To the couple who sat next to my friend and I at Hurley's, in the loungy area with couches, Friday July 17th from 5:30 to 6:00: I remember everything.
You, the guy: I remember your close-cropped hair and hip-hop hat. I remember your cleft chin, your pearly whites, your light tan on your Caucasian skin. I remember those loose jeans, trendy running shoes and thick white t-shirt with asymetrical print pattern. I remember the way you didn't look at your menu, at all, and I remember how you laughed in a slightly fake, douchebag way as you leaned in to kiss your "girlfriend". I especially remember the half-sleeve of tattoos you sport on your right arm, and the way its tribals end in a light spike just past the elbow joint, on the muscle mass there. I remember your height, your weight, and especially your face.
You, the white girl: I remember your thick, curly, reddish-brown hair, down to your shoulderblades. I remember your green eyes when you looked at me right in the face as you got up to go (presumably) to the bathroom. I remember your thick, rectangular, branded black plastic prescription eyewear. I remember your sleeveless, knee-length black and red dress with mesh overlay. I remember your height, your weight, and the way you walked briskly with your platform sandals.
I remember you did not eat nor drank anything. You just sat next to us and left by the closest exit once you did what you felt like doing.
My friend Danixa does not remember you; she cried the loss of the wallet you stole, and stresses at the thought of having lost her residency ID, and the 300$ in cash she was to wire to her Peruvian family later this evening.
But *I* remember. We know you attempted to buy stuff with her AMEX card at Futureshop between 6 and 7; We know you used her MC card at 6:15. I remember and if I find you on Crescent someday, I'll be calling the cops, to whom we've reported all of the above and more, with glee in my heart.
Rot in hell, you low-life scum, or so Gods help me, I'll make sure you do if I find you.

| Lost all black cat |
[Jul. 17th, 2009|09:35 pm] |
I posted this on Craigslist and Kijiji, and thought I'd try my luck here as well.
My all black cat tends to go outside alot, but always comes home come night fall. He's been in and out of the house for well over a year now. Knows the area very very well(we've seen him while out walking out dog all over the neighborhood). We've been in the same appartment for nearly a year as well.
But, about 5/6 days ago, he went out and never returned. I didn't think anything of it, because over the winter, he was gone for 3 days straight before coming home(thinking someone took him in, or he went and got shelter wherever he was). But that has been the only time he didn't return home.
I'm worried for him. I will be going to the SPCA this weekend to see if he was brought it, but thought to post this here, just in case.
We live in Ville Emard, corner of Monk and Allard. He is a small 2 year old cat, with a scar on his left ear(missing a small patch of hair there as well as it's healed).
He answers to the name Diego, or meow(making the cat sound). My daughters(6 and 3) are missing him, and I would like any information I can get. Where I could look, what to put on signs...ect. I may have a picture of him on the internet, but I'd have to hunt it down, and do not want to wait any longer.
If you've found him, please write me back right away. I would come and get him regardless of the time.
Thanks

http://www.helenkellersimulator.com Perpetual motion, like a spring wound in a heavenly kingdom. I can feel potential building, the tension of seasons, of thrilling decisions, of a grand tipping point somewhere near, almost as touchable as the closest horizon. Somewhere soon I will find a solution, the magical arrangement of pieces that will let it all out, create an escape for the pressure, allow me to blossom into the next incarnation of exquisite useful flower.
My internal barometer is, in part, my hair. The farther I neglect the colour, the more I know something needs to change. Now, for the first time in many years, I am only negligently dyed off my natural red blonde. Another is my music. When was the last time I practiced the saw, running rills, songs, and scales meant only for me?
David comes home, our lovely neighbor Randa in tow, "Why do you have a colander on your head?" "Oh!" I say, disingenuous, whisking it off my head, "I had company." I spend eight hours on the bus every weekend, waiting in travel to see Tony or to get back to Vancouver in time for work, and close to five hours every week waiting for Michael, who gets out of the office around an hour after I do, so we can travel home together, but to myself I only seem to find a handful of ten minute increments where I can feel creatively infected, ripe with the mental control of whispering ghosts, where I have space enough to make.
This selection of habits grew so slowly, so organically, that it was confusing me, how little time was suddenly available. It wasn't until I counted the hours on my fingers, waiting at a street corner for a light to change, that I realized what started as moments few enough to blink away has expanded, accumulated into enough minutes to fill an entire day a week of my eaten time spent stilled, ineffectual, accomplishing nothing, creating nothing, being merely a body, adding nothing to the world but a physical space.
This, among other things, perturbs me at the level of bone.
To that end, however, as I cannot afford a tool with which to fix this problem, and the other things are other stories, what colour should I dye my hair? |

| | hopeful | ] | Hey!
I am looking for a room in a shared apartment from September '09 to January '10. I am an art student from Berlin doing an exchange year at the Emily Carr University. I figured before going on to craigslist I'd give it a try here!
So if anyone knows nice people who have a free room that has a window and maybe even a bed, please let me know!

Thank you. |

| looking for hotel recommendations |
[Jul. 17th, 2009|12:39 pm] |
A friend and I will be traveling to Montreal in August for Anticipation - the SciFi WorldCon - and plan to stay a few days to see the sights. I am looking for recommendations on inexpensive hotels as well as places to avoid. Our main requirements are that there be parking, private bath and internet access available. Any suggestions on things to do, and things not to miss would be welcome as well Thanks. |

1. Fear of flying therapy is annoying. I want a list of tasks to complete that will take away the phobia. Therapist refuses to provide that list. Planning on making my own list. I LIKE LISTS. (And no, I'm not going to quit going.)
2. Nursing homes, once you express actual interest in placing your parent in one of them and aren't simply "taking the tour," suddenly become all, "Well... IF we accept her and IF this meets our criteria and IF blahblahmeow." Suddenly they get all team-picky and turn it into a game of geriatric dodgeball.
3. moroccomole upgraded his iPhone and sold his old one on eBay. The turdface auction winner never contacted us back or paid. I have begun "resolution" with them to make sure they get a bad mark on their eBay permanent record. THEY WILL RUE THE DAY THEY DID NOT PAY.
4. Gays, I will DJ this Sunday night at the Eagle from 9pm until 1am. I promise that there will be no smooth song transitions unless it's on accident.
5. Reviews of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and "(500) Days of Summer" are up now at Movies.com. All you need is the will to read them and the ability to go click on my face.
6. "Funny People," while I'm on the subject of movies, is really funny. Even though Adam Sandler is in it. Also it's nearly two and a half hours long. Buttocks alert.
7. Today I plan to plan my NYC museum and gallery visits. It's on my list of lists I have to make (see item # 1 above) I already have a long list of galleries and shows because I read the art magazines and go to blogs and whatnot, but does anyone in NYC have favorite galleries that show excellent stuff? I don't wanna see any chump bullshit. So think on it and report back please.
8. Are you watching the "Rotten Tomatoes" show on Current? (That's a cable channel.) You should because my husband is on it almost every week telling you about how "The Stoning of Soraya M." is dumb.
9. Oh good, I just discovered that "The Rotten Tomatoes Show" also streams on the current website. So suck it, cable providers that don't provide. And if you find yourself obsessed with my man, they even have back episodes on there, too: http://current.com/items/90441885_br-no-cheri-i-love-you-beth-cooper-the-rotten-tomatoes-show.htm
10. Gotta make a big smoothie out of kale and chard today. A Taste-of-Lawn Shake. |

| Used office furniture stores? |
[Jul. 17th, 2009|09:07 am] |
I've heard of places where they sell a lot of used office furniture, but don't know where they are. I've woken up today feeling seriously crappy from sitting in a very bad chair all day in my current job, and am determined to find something better but cheap enough for my employer to be happy to subsidize. Any suggestions where I could look? |

| Where to find a sewing box |
[Jul. 16th, 2009|08:12 pm] |
I'm looking for a big, good quality sewing box (the kinda box you put thread, needles, etc. in). So far, I've checked Zellers, Wal-Mart, Fabricland, and Michael's, and all I came up with were either big and poor quality (i.e. it was falling apart as I was trying to take the top tray out), or small and good quality.
As per my usual "where to find" requests, bonus points if it's in Langley, Surrey, Tri-Cities, or Maple Ridge areas.
Thanks |
